A 25km run to raise money for cardiac care and rehabilitation

Sponsored Run for the Sussex Heart Charity

On New Year’s Eve 2019 I went out for a run and had what is best described as a massive heart attack. My life was saved by doctors at the Sussex Royal hospital in Brighton. In the subsequent weeks and months I was then lucky enough to have rehabilitative care provided by the NHS in partnership with the Sussex Heart Charity.

That excellent organisation got me back on my feet and, more remarkably, got me running again. To express my gratitude and to enable them to help others I am seeking sponsorship for a run along Brighton’s sea front on 27 February 2021. I had planned to run the Brighton Half-Marathon that weekend but it has been postponed until June, so I’ll be doing this one as a solo project. I’ll find a way to record or broadcast my progress live, via Strava or a similar app, so sponsors can at least see that I have held up my side of the bargain.

The course I have set myself is from the start of the under-cliff walk in Saltdean to Hove Lagoon and back again. Google Maps reckons the distance is around 25km.
